The graduate of the National Sports Academy, Radoslav Yankov, claimed bronze in the parallel giant slalom at the Alpine Snowboard World Cup held in Bansko.

Initially, he was ranked fourth due to a five-hundredths-of-a-second lag behind Austrian Alexander Payer in the small final. However, after a protest was filed, Payer's result was annulled, and the Bulgarian was awarded third place.

In the semifinals, Yankov faced Swiss competitor Dario Caviezel. The Bulgarian made an early mistake, attempted to recover in the final meters, but missed the penultimate gate on the course. The competition was won by Dario Caviezel, who defeated Italian Gabriel Messner in the grand final.

Impressive was the performance of another representative of the National Sports Academy in the championship – sophomore Tervel Zamfirov. He and Radoslav Yankov competed in a closely matched battle in the first round of direct eliminations, where the more experienced Yankov prevailed, taking revenge for the quarterfinals in which Zamfirov had defeated him.

Other elite athletes from the NSA “Vasil Levski” also participated in the World Cup starting list – Petar Gergyovski, Aleksandar Krashnyak, Kristian Georgiev, and Petar Gyosharov.

The Bulgarian President Rumen Radev also attended the award ceremony, congratulating the winners for their outstanding achievements.

Based on existing cooperation agreements with the Municipality of Bansko and the Bulgarian Ski Federation, the National Sports Academy was among the partners in organizing the World Cup. More than 30 NSA students and faculty members, led by Chief Assistant Prof. Deyan Todorov, contributed their expertise and dedication to the successful execution of this prestigious event, which brought together the global elite of snowboarding.
