Published on 17 December 2024 From December 11 to 13, 2024, the General Assembly and seminar of the members of the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) took place in Madrid, where the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Slavchev and Senior Assist. Prof. Dr. Iliya Dimitrov. The event gathered over 40 representatives of sports universities and organizations from 30 European countries. During the seminar, statistical data was shared, revealing that employment in the sports sector in the EU and the United Kingdom increased by 32% between 2011 and 2023, reaching 1.96 million jobs. Unfortunately, Bulgaria is among the few countries where sports employment has decreased compared to 2019 (-24%). The need to adapt educational programs to the sector's requirements and strengthen connections among EOSE members for future partnerships was discussed. A key highlight of the NSA representatives' participation was the presentation of the upcoming International Congress on Applied Sports Sciences (ICASS) 2025 at the Sports Academy. The participants were introduced to the congress's history, thematic directions, deadlines, and opportunities for participation. NSA's involvement in the European Festival of Sport (feSport) in Paris during the Olympic Games was also presented. At the festival, the Sports Academy partnered with another EOSE member – the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ). The participation of our colleagues in the discussions and presentations reinforced the role of NSA "Vasil Levski" as one of the leading and long-standing partners within EOSE. |
